I combine Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with NLP coaching to help overcome unhelpful emotions or behaviours, negative self-talk, anxiety and overwhelm.
I offer EFT and NLP coaching on its own for emotional issues, fears, self esteem issues, procrastination or life challenges.
I also combine this with Reflexology or Clinical Massage Therapy, particularly for addressing the emotional aspects of pain, pregnancy related or fertility related fears and negative emotions.
What is NLP coaching?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a set of language, sensory-based interventions and behaviour modification techniques that help clients understand how they came to think and behave the way they do, and to learn to manage their moods and emotions to bring about change that leads to more acceptable and successful behaviour. NLP practitioners believe that their clients have the answers to their problems within themselves; it is simply a matter of helping them draw out those answers.
What is Emotional Freedom Technique/EFT?
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or Meridain Tapping ) is an evidence-based stress management technique for mind and body that combines the principles of ancient Chinese medicine with modern psychology.
The approach relieves symptoms by lightly tapping on various body acupoints. Stimulating the acupoints balances energy meridians that become disrupted through negative memories or experiences. This is often accompanied by positive changes in thinking and transforming limiting beliefs. The technique is easy to learn and ideal for self-help.
How Does it Work?
The research demonstrates that EFT appears to affect the amygdala (stress centre in the brain) and hippocampus (memory centre), and both play a role in the decision process when you decide if something is a threat. Meridian acupoint stimulation deactivates the brains arousal pathways, calming the stress response.
EFT has also been shown to lower cortisol levels, which is the stress hormone. Too much cortisol can result in lowered immune function and ultimately affect our physical health. EFT/Tapping is a tool which is practical, hands-on, and easy to apply, it is a unique way to assist people from all walks of life and it has an immediate calming effect.
Over 100 research studies, review articles and meta-analyses been researched in more than 10 countries, by more than 60 investigators, whose results have been published in more than 20 different peer-reviewed journals
Review of the research
Dr David Feinstein wrote a comprehensive review of the research in energy psychology in 2012, and in 2018 he wrote an updated review article.
The updated article was published in November 2018 in Explore. Read the article.
